Brewing a Red IPA | Grain to Glass | Classic Styles

Equipment
In this video I show you how to brew a Red IPA (aka West Coast Red or American Hoppy Amber Ale). This style is a clean, malty ale with strong caramel/toffee flavors paired with a noticeable hop bitterness and aroma. The final beer was 6.6% ABV with 85 IBUs. Due to a mistake made in the boil where I added the 10 minute hop addition at 30 min, the beer turned out significantly more bitter than anticipated. That being said, it was still surprisingly balanced thanks to the hefty percentage of caramel malt and was ultimately quite the enjoyable beer for a hophead like myself. I wish I had the time to dry hop it as a nice aroma would have been perfect.
