Christmas Ale Homebrew Beer Tasting

Equipment
In this episode we taste the Christmas Ale that we brewed on our Clawhammer Brewing System. We tried to mimic the Great Lakes Christmas Ale for this beer and used the same ingredients. We named this beer “Major Award” as a homage to A Christmas Story, our favorite Christmas movie here at Clawhammer. This beer finished at a low ABV of 4.3% making it a perfect recipe to make and bring to your holiday party or family gathering. You can get a buzz off of it, but you definitely won’t blackout. Watch this video to learn how the beer turned out and to learn about different off flavors beer can have due to contamination. We believe our lactobacillus strain wasn’t entirely clean, which gave this beer a bit of a Brettanomyces off flavor. Check out the resources below for part 1 and 2, a full recipe, brewing equipment, and an educational article about beer off flavors.
