Irish Red Ale – All Grain Beer Recipe – Brew in a Bag

If you’re looking for an Irish beer other than a stout to brew this St. Patrick’s Day, look no further. Irish Red Ale is just malty enough to to satisfy your malty beer itch but still highly drinkable. Enjoy one this St. Patrick’s Day and let me know how it goes!

Recipe for 5 gallons:
Water:
9.06 gallons of RO Water
Water Profile:
Ca2+ – 53 ppm
Mg – 8 ppm
Na+ – 8 ppm
Cl- – 64 ppm
SO4 – 76 ppm
HCO -16 ppm

Grains:
10 lbs Maris Otter (89.9%)
8.5 oz Carapils (4.8%)
7.4 oz Caramel 40 (4.2%)
2.1 oz Roasted Barley (1.2%)

Mash for 60 minutes @ 152

Hops:
.75 oz Challenger @ 60 minutes
1 oz Fuggle @ 10 minutes

Misc:
1 Whirlfloc @ 15 minutes
.5 tsp Yeast Nutrient @ 15 minutes
.5 tsp Gelatin for fining

Yeast:
1 pkg S-04 English Ale
Fermented @ 66F
