Joseph Hirtz of Valrico, FL, a member of the Brandon Bootleggers Homebrew Club, won a gold medal in Category 8: German Wheat & Rye Beer in the 2023 National Homebrew Competition Final Round in San Diego. Hirtz's Dunkles Weissbier earned gold out of 95 entries.
