Hi, I have really enjoyed the Coopers APA Homebrew Kit, but decided to try and ramp it up a bit by making it to 17L (instead of 23L) and adding some Amarillo hops and Cocoa Nibs. My best APA so far. 6.7% ABV.
Recipe :
1. Coopers APA Kit
2. Coopers Brew Enhancer #2 (made up of 500gms Dextrose, 250gms Maltodextrin, 250gms DME)
3. Additional 250gms LDME
4. Amarillo Hops – 15gms
5. Cocoa Nibs – 30gms
6. Kit yeast or US-05 Ale Yeast
Mixed items 1 to 3 in 2 litres of boiling water and added to fermenter. Added water up to 17L (not the usual 23L) and then mixed and added rehydrated yeast (from kit) and Amarillo hops (steeped in 500mls of boiling water for 15mins). Finally added 30gms of Cocoa Nibs to fermenter. Fermented for 11 days @ 22C and then bottled. OG = 1.064 FG
1.018 ABV=6.7%
