Simplest way to brew beer at home.

This video is mainly for people who want to get into home brewing without having to spend a lot of money or use a lot of space.
It covers the brewing process, from grain to fermentation. It does not cover bottling or kegging after fermentation is done.

The process described produces 10 litre (2.6 US gallon) batches, but can easily be scaled up or down, depending on your kitchen and equipment.

The porter recipe brewed in this video:
Grain:
– 1.8 kg (4 lbs) Pale Malt
– 160 g (5.6 oz) Dark Crystal Malt
– 170 g (6 oz) Brown Malt
– 100 g (3.5 oz) Chocolate Malt
Hops:
– 18 g Challenger (leaf, alpha acid 7%) at start of boil
– 10 g Challenger (leaf, alpha acid 7%) at end of boil
Yeast:
– Fermentis SafAle S-04

Equipment:
– sanitiser (e.g. ChemSan or StarSan)
– 2 x 5 or 6 litre water bottles
– a few muslin bags for hops
– hydrometer with trial jar
– nylon bag for the grain
– 15 litre pot with lid
– thermometer
– kitchen scale
– some bowls
– paddle
– funnel
– ice
