Home Brewing Tutorial: Racking on to a Yeast Cake

After kegging a pale ale I decided to keep the yeast cake in the fermenter and pitch on top of the the residual yeast left from the previous batch (yeast cake). I was curious to see how quickly fermentation would kick off and how quickly the beer would finish fermenting.
