The team behind Alice Springs Brewing Co (ASBC) announced in November 2024, its first expansion outside the Northern Territory with the acquisition of Beer Garden Brewing, a much-loved brewery in Port Lincoln, South Australia.
Kyle Pearson, Founder of ASBC, told Beer & Brewer that the team are settling in well.
“South Australia has been a fresh and welcome change from some of the things we deal with in Alice Springs. We have found Port Lincoln to be very welcoming and have also had positive experiences with the existing team and new people we have brought on board.”
The deal included the brewery’s premises, plant, and equipment, which now operate independently, building on the existing owners’ work and proven strategies, with a focus on community involvement and becoming a local hub.
Pearson emphasised that ASBC has been able to continue the excellent work done by the existing team at Beer Garden Brewing while also leaving their unique mark on the business.
“We have brought in our brewing practices and food concepts and have seen a very positive response from the customer base. We have also gone to seven-day trade with our focus on great beer, great food and live music at the forefront. We have seen a great response from live music with a string of sold our shows already taking place and coming in the near future.”
In a short amount of time ASBC has also been able to honour its commitment to engage with the local Port Lincoln community in unique and meaningful ways.
“We love the community in Alice Springs, and it loves us back. We have taken the same approach in Port Lincoln and are now sponsoring several local sporting clubs. We have also launched our Friday Raffles where any community group or even a club or kid who needs to raise money for a sporting trip can come and sell raffle tickets.”
Pearson also told Beer & Brewer that the final stages of the acquisition will involve an all-new brand identity.
“We are currently in the final stages of a rebrand which will be announced in June this year. The new brand identity will drive home our place in Port Lincoln and the surrounding Eyre Peninsula.”
