Little Creatures Fremantle kicks off $10m makeover

Good To Know

As the brewery celebrates its 25th anniversary, Little Creatures has unveiled plans for a $10 million transformation of its Fremantle home.

Located along Fremantle’s Fishing Boat Harbour, the new Little Creatures Fremantle venue will span two levels over a refurbished space with harbour views, moving a short distance from the current Great Hall site. Construction is expected to begin this month.

Marking a quarter-century of craft beer excellence, the investment is intended to elevate the Little Creatures experience and ensure its longevity in Fremantle’s dining and entertainment scene by introducing new immersive dining and tasting experiences.

Danny Connolly, Lion’s Field Sales Director, says: “Little Creatures has been a part of the fabric of Fremantle for the past 25 years, and this significant investment marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the brand.”

The Brewhouse, located next to the Great Hall and inside the brewery, will offer a brand-new tasting room with tours, merchandise and a beer school, while The Den will feature an outdoor play area.

The kitchen and bar area will also be given an overhaul. Once opened, the refreshed menu will feature wood-fired pizzas, rotisseries, open-flamed grills and dishes designed to pair with the brewery’s signature beers.

Aboriginal-owned builder Dundee Rock leads the construction and design of the venue, seamlessly blending the city’s coastal and industrial heritage and honouring the history of the building.

Mayor of Fremantle, Hannah Fitzhardinge, added: “A new venue directly on the Fremantle harbour waterfront is very welcome, and we’re thrilled Little Creatures can remain at their original site. This new space for Little Creatures will provide locals and tourists with an inviting place to enjoy some of the best views, beers and hospitality in WA.”

The news follows the reopening of Little Creatures’ South Geelong facility in December after a $4m upgrade to enhance its brewing capabilities and hospitality space.

The original Great Hall will continue to operate until October 2025, with the date for the grand reopening yet to be revealed, although it is expected to be operational ahead of summer.
