Heads of Noosa’s Baltic Porter returns

Heads of Noosa has announced the return of its popular dark lager, its annual Seasonal Reserve Baltic Porter, which was first launched in 2022.

This year, in addition to the original Baltic Porter, a very limited quantity has been aged in oak barrels, adding an extra layer of complexity and character. These barrel-aged brews will be exclusively available to guests at the Heads of Noosa x Butchers of Noosa, Gourmet Backyard BBQ as part of the Noosa Eat & Drink Festival.

The Gourmet Backyard, held on Thursday 29 May,  will deliver a feast of smoked, grilled, and charred meats, paired with the brewery’s exceptional lineup of lagers and 2025 Baltic Porter Seasonal Reserve, plus the oak-barrel aged version. Tickets are available here.

The original Baltic Porter, along with its oak-aged barrel variant, will be available at the Taproom from 30 May. Depending on stock levels, there will be the possibility to try both side by side.

The Baltic Porter is crafted using a sub-zero lagering method, a unique process that involves maturing the beer at sub-zero temperatures to enhance its smoothness and deliver a clean, crisp finish. The result is a rich, full-bodied brew with notes of chocolate and caramel.

“This year we’ve taken things a step further with a small batch of the Baltic Porter aged in oak barrels which will be exclusively available in our Taproom at our Noosa Eat Drink event. Once it’s gone, it’s gone, so if you’re keen to try it, grab tickets before they sell out,” said Lance Masterton, head brewer for Heads of Noosa.

The Baltic Porter is the sixth Heads of Noosa brew to have a Seasonal Reserve brewed since 2022. Last year a Helles German Lager was released, while in 2023 it was a Munich Dunkel.

For the first time the Baltic Porter will be ranged in 48 select Dan Murphy’s and 25 local BWS stores, which means you’ll be able to pick up this seasonal reserve anywhere from Bundaberg to Ballina.
